Elk Grove Village, IL – Last week, State Rep. Jennifer Sanalitro attended the ribbon cutting for the new Clearmont Pedestrian Bridge over the Salt Creek in Elk Grove Village.

“I am so excited that Elk Grove Village and surrounding residents get to enjoy the comforts and conveniences brought forth by this project,” said Sanalitro. “Projects like this that encourage people to get outside, live a healthy lifestyle, and enjoy the natural resources of our area are sure to have my support. Thank you to Elk Grove Village Officials and Staff for seeing this through!” she concluded.

The project replaces the existing Clearmont Pedestrian Bridge over Salt Creek with a new 400-foot span by 14-foot wide structure. This new structure is twice the length of the old bridge, avoids the floodplain thus reducing flooding and eliminating potential closures of the bridge. The wider bridge deck will also make it easier for cyclists, runners, walkers, and other pedestrians to use the bridge. The project also included the replacement of pathway lighting, aesthetic improvements, and installation of an overlook for pedestrians to view wildlife.
