Free family fun is coming to Wheaton as State Senator Seth Lewis (R-Bartlett) and State Representative Amy Grant (R-Wheaton) host a free youth fishing derby on Saturday, June 29 at Herrick Lake in Wheaton. Youth participants are not required to have a fishing license.
“I am excited to co-host a fishing derby for children and families in the 24th District and can’t wait to see who wins our prizes for biggest fish, most fish, and best sportsman or woman,” said Lewis. “This event promises family fun at its finest at one of this area’s best lakes.”
The first 25 kids to arrive will receive a free rod/reel combo, and at 9:00 AM, there will be a water/boat safety presentation by the Illinois Conservation Police. Additionally, the DuPage County Forest Preserve Police will be on hand with their squad to provide important information.
