The Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame is dedicated to recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of individuals aged 65 and older in Illinois. As stated by the organizers, "The Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame honors the accomplishments of Illinois residents aged 65 and older."

According to the guidelines of the Hall of Fame, four older adults are chosen annually for their contributions in various fields such as arts, sports, entertainment, community service, education, or the labor force. In the words of the organizers, "Each year, four older adults are inducted into the Hall of Fame for their work in the arts, sports, and entertainment; community service; education; or the labor force."

The eligibility criteria for nomination are clear and specific. Nominees must be aged 65 or older at the time of nomination and either a current Illinois resident or have been a resident of Illinois for most of their life. Additionally, posthumous nominations are accepted under the condition that the nominee was 65 or older and living in Illinois at the time of their passing.
