State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro, serving the 48th District, is gearing up for a busy legislative season in Springfield. As lawmakers reconvene, numerous bills and legislative proposals will be introduced to the General Assembly, initiating an important phase in the public policy-making process. Representative Sanalitro looks forward to engaging in thoughtful discussions and reviews in committee meetings regarding possible changes to Illinois law.

In January, Representative Sanalitro toured the DuPage County Jail alongside Sheriff James Mendrick. The visit showcased the jail's innovative rehabilitation initiatives, including drug detoxification, tattoo removal, and vocational training programs. Known as the JUST Program, these initiatives are leading the nation in effectiveness. Representative Sanalitro praised the focus on vocational training, emphasizing its ability to equip individuals with valuable skills for a better life post-incarceration.

A concerning trend has emerged for small businesses in Illinois. According to a report by Alignable, 64% of Illinois small businesses experienced a significant drop in earnings in Q4 of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. This places Illinois among the toughest quarters, only surpassed by New York and Ohio. Representative Sanalitro acknowledges the challenges faced by small businesses and is committed to addressing them. She emphasizes the need for policies that foster a thriving business environment, support job creation, and alleviate the burdens on the small business community.

In an effort to enhance the quality of life for every resident, Representative Sanalitro announced significant grant awards for park districts within the 48th District. These awards were part of the 2024 Open Space Land Acquisition & Development (OSLAD) program administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The grants will be used to enhance the health and well-being of communities in the district.

Representative Sanalitro recently visited Goddard Preschool in Bloomingdale, where she had the opportunity to read to the students and engage in productive conversations with the school's administrators. She was impressed by the students' creativity and showcased some custom-made banners bearing her name. The visit highlighted the importance of investing in early childhood education.

Addressing the growing issue of food insecurity, Representative Sanalitro urges individuals to consider donating to local food pantries operating within DuPage County. She recognizes the impact that these donations can have on helping neighbors in need.

Each month, Representative Sanalitro recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities through her Constituent of the Month program. For January 2024, Frank Parisi, a longtime resident of Carol Stream, was honored for his unwavering commitment and contributions to the community. His dedication to the Carol Stream Parks Foundation has opened doors for residents facing financial barriers.

Representative Sanalitro remains actively involved in the community, attending various events and meetings throughout the district. She recently participated in the DuPage County Forest Preserve District's Legislative Breakfast and the DuPage Mayors and Managers Annual Reception. She also toured Allen Aircraft Radio (AAR) in Wood Dale.

In addition to her community involvement, Representative Sanalitro is working with DUKANE ABATE to preserve the legacy of motorcycling and protect the rights and freedoms of motorcyclists in DuPage and Kane Counties.

State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro continues to serve the 48th District, which includes the communities of Addison, Bensenville, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Elk Grove, Hanover Park, Itasca, Medinah, Roselle, Schaumburg, and Wood Dale. She remains committed to addressing the challenges faced by her constituents and promoting initiatives that enhance the quality of life for all residents in the district.
