Heather Brown, a candidate for the Illinois State Senate District 25, has expressed concerns about the handling of illegal immigration in Illinois. She challenged the state's stance as an "Open Border Loving State."

“I thought we were an Open Border Loving State? Now they’re threatening the bus drivers of arrest and fines when the immigration system is failing IL,” Brown said on Facebook. “No one is looking at what our actual Border States are looking at. Villa attempted to tear up two years ago when I stated the boarder should be closed with our Daily Herald interview.”

“With the FBI announcements today and the DOJ switching topics to ‘back in 2019’....They do not want you to see all the economic problems our State will be facing in this upcoming year. Rent, property taxes, taxes on everything will increase and We The People will have to bare the burden. Get ready.”

“The people have spoken! The inner city has effectively closed Illinois to Illegals by attending meetings and speaking up.”

“It is up to US to decide if right outside of the city if we will continue with the increases.”

“Are you ready? Is your retired neighbor ready or family? We cannot all split the burden in the State. We can no longer rely on our Government to protect the average person trying to live paycheck to paycheck. So many broken promises.”

In support of her statements, Brown referred to a YouTube video that depicted illegal immigrants being turned away from Chicago suburbs.

According to reports from the Washington Examiner, Chicago-area suburbs including Cicero and Rosemont have rejected busloads of immigrants arriving from El Paso, Texas. This comes amid an influx of illegal immigrants from the southern border. Rosemont police allowed immigrants to disembark if someone was picking them up. Meanwhile, Cicero implemented a measure to fine bus companies $750 per person for letting out homeless immigrants.

The Examiner also reported that several suburbs such as Schaumburg and Elk Grove Village have passed ordinances preventing the housing of illegal immigrants. In contrast, Oak Park is spending $1 million to house immigrants in hotels due to cold weather conditions, citing it as a humanitarian crisis.

“It shouldn’t be all these mayors fixing the problem,” Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson told the Washington Examiner. “It’s not our job. We’re not built to handle this. Hopefully, the federal government says, OK, let’s fix this problem.”

Brown serves as an Independent Alderman of West Chicago and is recognized for her seven-year tenure and ability to bridge political divides. Her voting record consistently shows "No" votes on levies which demonstrates her commitment to fiscal conservatism. According to her website, she opposes water rate increases as part of her dedication to responsible financial decisions that prioritize community well-being.

The State Senate District 25 is currently represented by State Sen. Karina Villa (D-West Chicago). The district includes all or parts of Aurora, North Aurora, Batavia, West Chicago, South Elgin, Wayne and Bartavia as indicated on Villa’s website.
