NAPERVILLE, ILL. -- At 4:20 p.m. Monday, June 5, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a call reporting a fire in a business located in the 1800 block of High Grove Lane. The caller stated everyone had evacuated the building and there were no injuries. PSAP dispatched a general alarm assignment, consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel including an Incident Commander and Incident Safety Officer to the reported address.
At 4:25 p.m., the first vehicle arrived on scene and found moderate smoke coming from the roof. Fire companies ensured all occupants were out of the business and then quickly stretched hose lines. Once inside, companies discovered a piece of mechanical equipment that had failed and caught fire.
At 4:39 p.m., the fire was deemed under control. Fire companies remained on the scene another 20 minutes to ensure all hot spots were extinguished. The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Aurora Fire Department and Naperville Police Department.
The cause is fire is still under investigation. There were no injuries to any occupants or firefighters while operating on scene. The building was deemed to be habitable by the Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Business Group. The fire is estimated to have caused $25,000 in damages.
