Jake Tahaney Joins Elmhurst Football Staff | Elmhurst University
Elmhurst University football head coach Mike Murray has announced the addition of Jake Tahaney '20 as the last member of his inaugural staff.
A 2020 graduate of Elmhurst University and dual-sport athlete in football and track & field, Tahaney returns to Elmhurst following two seasons as the wide receivers coach and academic support specialist at Alma College in Alma, Mich. At Alma, Tahaney coached wide receiver Nathan Goralski to second-team All-MIAA honors in 2022, helping the Scots to their first conference title since 2004 and the team's first NCAA Division III Football Championship victory.
"I am excited to make my way back home to Elmhurst to join Coach Murray and the rest of the coaching staff, and am thankful for the experience I had with Alma and the opportunity they gave me to start my coaching career" Tahaney said. "Elmhurst provided me with an incredible student-athlete experience that I will always cherish, and I hope to provide a similar experience to our student-athletes within the football program."
At Elmhurst, Tahaney was a three-year letterwinner at both wide receiver and quarterback for the Bluejaysleading the 2019 squad with an average of 4.5 yards per carry, scoring six touchdowns on the season (four passing, two rushing). He also earned three academic all-CCIW awards in his time at Elmhurst. Tahaney also lettered in track & field, where he was a four-time All-CCIW honoree.
"We are thrilled to have Jake back in the program. He was so well respected as a multi-sport student-athlete at Elmhurst during his college days, he has a great understanding of what we are trying to accomplish both on and off the field and has had great experience in the turn-around of a program at his previous stop" Murray said.
