Republican Michael Burke is running for the 3rd District of the Illinois Supreme Court in the general election of 2022.

Justice Burke has nearly 30 years of judicial experience in the courtroom and a proven track record of upholding law and order. Numerous law enforcement organizations have endorsed him.

The results of the 2022 Primary Election Judicial Advisory Poll conducted by the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) gave Burke a "Highly Recommended" ranking, making him the only contender in the 3rd District Illinois Supreme Court race to receive such a rating.

"I am extremely proud and humbled that the Illinois State Bar Association's Judicial Evaluations Committee Outside Cook County has found me to be ‘Highly Qualified,’” Burke said in the release. “I am equally proud that my peers have rated me highly across the board for my qualifications, integrity, impartiality, and other important traits that an Illinois Supreme Court Justice must possess to successfully serve the People of the State of Illinois."

Burke received high ratings across the board from attorneys who were knowledgeable about the Justice’s work on the bench and responded to the Judicial Advisory Poll. Among the eight categories rated, he maintained an average rating of 92.92%.

The justice currently represents the 2nd District on the Illinois Supreme Court after being appointed to the position in 2020 to fill the seat of retiring Supreme Court Justice Robert R. Thomas.

He has been endorsed by the Joliet Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) as well as several other law enforcement groups, including the Illinois State FOP, the Will County Deputy Sheriff’s Union, the Bolingbrook Police Metropolitan Association of Police (MAP) Chapter #3, and the Naperville Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #42.

Burke is running against Democrat Mary O'Brien in the general election, which takes place on Nov. 8, a Ballotopedia report said.
