Justin Burau is the Republican candidate of Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District election taking place in November. A native Chicagoland area resident, Burau advocates for full transparency, common-sense solutions to politics and accountability.
Early in his career, Burau was involved in multiple business startups, fostering his strong drive for innovation, according to the bio page on his campaign website. After being given the opportunity to become a licensed real estate broker in 2012, he became a managing broker, helping grow multiple brokerages and managing over 1,000 realtors. He is a former member of national and Illinois Realtor Associations and currently the vice president of operations for Aceland Mortgage.
Burau's priorities span the breadth of what he believes to be the most important issues that need improvement today. This includes safer communities, immigration, economy and jobs, health care, veteran services, education, bipartisanship, Second Amendment rights and the opioid crisis.
"I run-on common-sense solutions to our somewhat crazy political system," Burau said on his campaign website. "I welcome the hard conversations because I believe hearing people out is how we, as Americans, have always gotten things done. You will hear me say this often: 'You may not agree with everything, but let’s have a conversation about it.' This statement is even more true in our new district."
Burau has received 34 endorsements from Illinois candidates, public servants and officials, and organizations. This includes the DuPage County sheriff, Chicago Young Republicans, United Hellenic Voters General Election, Justice Liam Brennan of Illinois' Appellate Court 3rd District and Judge Mike Reidy of Illinois' Circuit Court 18th District.
Burau does not support President Joe Biden's student loan forgiveness, but rather, believes there is another way to approach that issue.
"Just forgiving student debt solves nothing and we will be dealing with same problem again in 5-10 years. Education cost went up 37% when Obama got the federal government involved in loans," Burau wrote in a Sept. 30 Twitter post.
According to an Aug. 16 Twitter post, the Chicagoland native is a strong advocate for small businesses and believes they are "the heartbeat of communities," as he has "built [his] career helping small businesses." However, his opponent Delia Ramirez "has a 33% approval rating" among small businesses, Burau said.
Illinois' 3rd Congressional District election will take place on Nov. 8, according to Ballotpedia. Burau is the Republican candidate and is up against Democrat candidate Delia Ramirez.
