How it Works: The Village Code Violation Process
Have you ever wondered how Community Development enforces the Village Code? Woodridge strives to work with property owners to comply with the Code versus issuing fines.
The Woodridge Community Development Department is responsible for ensuring properties follow the Village Code of Woodridge. The code standardizes the appearance and quality of life in the Village’s neighborhoods.
The Village’s code officer’s goal is to inform all property owners of maintenance concerns so they do not create nuisances. However, the Village relies on information from neighbors too. Don't hesitate to get in touch with the Community Development Department if you observe a code violation.
The Village’s goal is to work with property owners to obtain compliance versus issuing fines. The following is a typical enforcement process:
  1. A code violation is witnessed by Village staff or reported by a concerned resident.
  2. Code officers request compliance on ordinance violations through verbal communication with property owners. No additional notices are issued to the affected property owner if compliance is obtained.
  3. Written notification is given by issuing a violation notice to the affected property owner if the code violation is not corrected. Code officers routinely follow up with site inspections and discussions with property owners to check on the status of the violations.
  4. If the affected owner has not corrected the problem after written notice, the code enforcement officer will take additional measures, including the issuance of tickets.
If compliance is obtained before the court date, the officer will inform the judge that compliance has been obtained. The judge determines the course of action if the violation is not corrected.
2022 Law Enforcement Torch Run Super Plunge
The National Weather Service predicts a low of 31 degrees on Friday, March 25, the evening of the 2022 Woodridge Polar Plunge. That’s cold!

IN AND AROUND WOODRIDGE
DRAWING FROM THE PAST

Do you love art? Are you really “drawn” to it? Then brush up on your McCormick art history with Public Engagement Coordinator Chris Corrigan and a guest artist to learn a little about a piece in our collection and try your hand at recreating it. All you’ll need is a pencil, eraser, a piece of paper, and a love for art! No artistic experience is required to enjoy putting your creative skills to work!
In honor of Women’s History Month, we will take a look at Amy McCormick, Col. McCormick’s first wife. Amy loved animals, gardening, and charitable work. She was also a nurse during WWI. But one of Amy’s greatest passions was art. She was a talented painter and avid art collector. Several of her works remain in the McCormick House collection today. After learning about Amy, we will be guided in sketching one of Amy’s self-portraits featuring her German Shepheard, Diane.
