Naperville Police Investigating Apparent Murder-Suicide

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At approximately 7:30 a.m. today, Jan. 18, 2022, Naperville Police Officers responded to an apartment complex on the 1300 block of Crab Apple Court for a report of a domestic incident. Based on the information initially received, officers set up a perimeter around the residence and members from the Naperville Police Department Special Response and Crisis Negotiation teams responded.

After multiple, unsuccessful attempts at contacting the individuals involved, Naperville’s Special Response Team (SRT) entered the apartment, where they located a female victim, who had been shot. She was evacuated and transported to a local hospital, where she was confirmed as deceased. The team would later locate the body of the male suspect, identified as the victim’s ex-husband from Michigan, deceased in the apartment from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Residents in the immediate area were contacted by police and notified to stay inside their homes as this incident unfolded. This remains an ongoing investigation, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Naperville Police Department at (630) 420-6665 and ask for the Investigations Division.
