City of Naperville Sister Cities Commission Met April 14.

A. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Fuhrer. Lance read a public statement to address why the commission is meeting on zoom.
B. ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: Lowe, Federico, Fuhrer, Donofrio and Chakka
STUDENT REPS: Pansi, Wu, and Westlake
STAFF PRESENT: Councilwoman Gustin and Rachel Pruneda
C. PUBLIC FORUM:
Diane Torres-Hawken of Naperville addressed the Commissioners to introduce herself. She formerly served on the AHHAB and would like to volunteer to assist with the festival.

Sister Cities Commission Meeting Minutes - Final April 14, 2021
Approve the Sister Cities minutes of March 10th and March 24, 2021
Bill Donofrio motioned and Alan Lowe seconded to approve the Sister Cities minutes of March 10 & 24, 2021.
AYES: (5) Federico, Fuhrer, Chakka, Lowe, Donofrio
NAYS: 0
Motion passed.
Treasurer's report - Julie Federico
Julie Federico presented the Treasurer's report. The report was received and filed.
1. Foundation Update
Brent Lindstrom advised the Commission that they are looking to develop a 2 to
3 year plan for adding additional sister cities.
2. Website Update
Brent Lindstrom provided an update. We have secured all 3 domain names.
The foundation will connect with Communications to transfer the napervillesistercities.org and napervillesistercitiescommission.org websites over to the city.
They will be adding some older sister cities news to fill up the website.
3. Festival Update
Diana Torres recommended inviting the National Museum of Mexican Art as an exhibition to display their artwork for the festival.
We will be reaching out to the Naperville Children's museum, Julie Carlson to see if they are interested in participating in the event.
We will work on purchasing and providing t-shirts for both commissioners and volunteers for the day of the event.
a. Schedule of Events
There are no new changes to the schedule of events. The commission continues to work on the lineup of events for the evening.
b. Special Permits and Licensing
We will continue to work with Dawn Portner and Jackie Lawendewsky of the Naperville Park District on any special permits and licensing required for the event.
c. Entertainment Report
We have decided to secure DJ Tito Latino for the festival. The costs for the evening will be $500. Rachel Pruneda will reach out to the deejay to provide us with a contract.
d. Downtown Alliance
We talked with Katie Wood of Downtown Alliance and she will work with us on our ideas to include downtown businesses for their participation in this event.
e. Award recognitions
Lance and Sophia will be the commissioners responsible for award selections and presentation.
f. 203 and 204 School District involvement
Lance will work with Districts 203 and 204 to market the event at the schools.
We will have a tent at the festival for both districts for the Spanish Clubs.
g. Raffle
Bill Donofrio will be the commission responsible for arranging the logistics of having a raffle. The commission is still deciding on whether to include this as part of the event. We could hold a 50/50 raffle.
h. Volunteer Recruitment
Diana Torres Hawken has volunteered to help with this event. One of the Commissioners will reach out to her to introduce themselves and see where she can assist the group.

F. NEW BUSINESS:
Councilwoman Gustin and Bill Donofrio will be discussing new connections with Nitra.
Shruti Pansi would like to move forward with the pen pal project with students from Mexico.
