City of Naperville Board of Fire and Police Met April 13.

A. CALL TO ORDER:
I would like to call the Board of Fire and Police Meeting to order.
Pursuant to Section 120/7(e) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act, the continuation of the Governor’s disaster proclamation, and Mayor Chirico’s executive order determining that in-person public meetings are not currently practical or prudent because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are holding this Board of Fire and Police Commission meeting remotely.
The commissioners and staff participating in tonight’s meeting are all in different locations in accordance with social distancing guidelines, and steps have been taken to ensure that the Commissioners can hear one another and all discussion and testimony. The public has been provided notice of alternative means of access to the meeting so they are able to contemporaneously hear all discussion, testimony and votes. All votes shall be taken by roll call.

1. Police Department Report
2 overdose deaths in the last few days
Bad traffic crash Friday night; driver was a repeat speeder
Loud and racing vehicles have picked up in the City; looking for different strategies on how to tackle this as a City
Made almost 7,000 traffic stops in the first quarter Continue to take guns off the street
2. Fire Department Report
Chief Puknaitis is pushing an initiative in Community Risk Reduction; made a couple changes to the Rescue Vehicle Program to hopefully prevent some of the fire calls
FD has applied for a Community Project Funding Grant for over half a million dollars; currently going through Congress approvals
Very proud of Fire Investigation Team; worked with the PD to get a conviction on the individual who was involved in an aggravated arson fire
A lot of roll-over vehicle accidents lately due to speed
Fox Valley Metro Area Command is working on some of the convictions going on; group comprised of both Fire and Police members including some of our Naperville employees
