Former DuPage County Board member Kevin Wiley wants to know what’s happening in the office of Wayne Township Highway Commissioner Martin McManamon.
“He is on his eighth female administrator in seven and a half years,” Wiley told the DuPage Policy Journal. “Seven have been fired or left and three have sued him and they’ve all prevailed. It’s a little disappointing that this hasn’t gotten more traction.”
According to Wiley, in one of the suits the woman was awarded in excess of $100,000, and all of the payments have been covered by taxpayers since the incidents allegedly took place in McManamon’s official capacity as a township commissioner.
“Martin knows how to present well in front of people, so you never hear about that, but if you dig into the records ...” Wiley said of McManamon, who also serves as Wayne Township Democratic Party Chairman. He added all of the legal proceedings are a matter of public record.
“It’s also a matter of public record that he’s had eight different administrators while his predecessor had just one in eight years,” he said. “We’ve been paying for his improper acts.”
Wiley said the Democratic Party also bears some of the blame for letting this alleged behavior fester.
“The fact that it’s the chairman of the Democratic Party and the Democrats haven’t said anything to censure his conduct, that means they endorse it,” he said.
