The Illinois GOP is commending the DuPage County Clerk for quickly addressing a glitch with the county’s voting machines.
Those using the machines to vote early on in the early voting period reported after 10 seconds the voting machine automatically selected all Democrats as well as the so-called Fair Tax tax hike.
The Illinois GOP alerted voters to the glitch late last week in an email titled “Voter Fraud Alert!”
The Illinois GOP sent out this alert.
“This is an outrageous abuse of our voting system and must be quickly remedied. Speaker Madigan and the Democrats will stop at nothing to enact higher taxes on our middle class families and retirees,” said Tim Schneider, ILGOP Chairman. “Illinois GOP volunteers will be handing out fliers in DuPage County to voters alerting them of this clear abuse of our election system.”
In response, DuPage County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek acknowledged the problems and is placing signs at voting places alerting voters to the glitch. A technological fix is unavailable prior to the end of the election.
Kaczmarek’s actions seemed to assuage Schneider.
“We appreciate the Clerk taking these remedial measures to help avoid any voter confusion on these machines,” Schneider said. “It is obviously of the utmost importance that all voters have the chance to make an informed choice at the polls.”
