Oak Brook FD responds to 42 fires in 2018

Oak Brook Fire District responded to 476 calls in 2018 - 1.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Oak Brook included 42 fires - seven structure fires, 18 vehicle fires and 17 other fires. The fire department also responded to eight calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $782,430 in fire loss - or about $18,629 per fire.

The department also received 426 false calls, including nine malicious calls and 417 other false calls.

The Oak Brook Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 32 active employees and 53 retired or inactive employees, was $810,238 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $15,288 for every fire in 2017.
