Darien-Woodridge FPD responds to 103 fires in 2018

Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District responded to 670 calls in 2018 - 2.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Darien-Woodridge included 103 fires - 68 structure fires, 15 vehicle fires and 20 other fires. The fire department also responded to five calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $120,000 in fire loss - or about $1,165 per fire.

The department also received 562 false calls, including eight malicious calls and 554 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury and one civilian fire-related death.

The Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $9,135,300 in 2018.
