Hinsdale FD responds to 25 fires in 2018

Hinsdale Fire District responded to 513 calls in 2018 - 3.6 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Hinsdale included 25 fires - 10 structure fires, seven vehicle fires and eight other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $4,025,215 in fire loss - or about $161,009 per fire.

The department also received 486 false calls, including seven malicious calls and 479 other false calls.

The Hinsdale Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 22 active employees and 30 retired or inactive employees, was $576,513 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $16,472 for every fire in 2017.
