Westmont Fire District responded to 829 calls in 2018 - 3.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Westmont included 44 fires - 19 structure fires, 11 vehicle fires and 14 other fires. The fire department also responded to five calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $8,308,856 in fire loss - or about $188,838 per fire.

The department also received 780 false calls, including 21 malicious calls and 759 other false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries. Additionally, four fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents.
