State Rep. Amy Grant (R-Wheaton) said she was impressed by the work that young individuals in the community are doing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I just want to take a moment to shine a spotlight on all the good happening around us and express my appreciation for their efforts — big and small,” Grant said in the release.
Grant will publish a short announcement on Facebook, drawing attention to a young individual from her district who has helped the community, state or larger area in some way or another. Parents, students or anyone else from the area is invited to recommend nominees for this recognition.
“There is no shortage of good news coming from the good deeds of our young people,” Grant said. “By showcasing their efforts, perhaps others will be inspired to take on a project or a cause that improves their community.”
While there is not a formal application process for those interested in nominating a young individual, interested parties are welcome to send a short email to Rep. Grant, sharing information about the student. Submissions can be sent to Grant@ilhousegop.org and should include the name of the nominee, grade, school, hometown and a brief explanation of why they should be chosen, with examples of how they are helping their community. Photos are also welcomed in the initial email and may then be shared via Facebook.
Those who prefer to mail a submission can do so by sending the information to 416 E. Roosevelt Road, Suite 111, Wheaton, 60187.
Grant said that she is eagerly awaiting the submissions she will receive as well as the opportunity to highlight the work that young individuals are doing in the community.
