Q2 2019 Recap: Parolees in DuPage County convicted of crimes involving weapons

There were five offenders convicted of crimes involving weapons released on parole in DuPage County during the second quarter of 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The data shows that all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving weapons was 36. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced in 2017, and the oldest was a 56-year-old man sentenced in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Paul M. Joyce. He was convicted in 2017 when he was 53 years old. He is now 56.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
