Lisle Park District issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.
Show pride in your community, spend time outdoors, and assist the Lisle Park District in keeping our 40 parks clean and litter free!
Whether you’ve resolved to volunteer more in 2020, or just enjoy helping the Lisle Community, our new Adopt-A-Park Program is a great way to give back and make a difference. The program invites and trains residents and business community members who wish to assist in the general care and maintenance of parks and park amenities, by selecting a specific location to care for. It’s open to individuals, businesses, schools, youth groups, church groups, neighborhood associations, senior citizens, or any other community group wishing to participate. All participants should be over 18 unless accompanied by an adult supervisor.
Adopt-A-Park volunteers are encouraged to commit to one year of service, and scheduling at least six workdays per year. Park/program staff will provide a kit of tools and supplies to assist in completing your tasks. General tasks include picking up litter, removing weeds around the playgrounds, spreading and raking mulch, raking leaves, cleaning sand in playgrounds, general seasonal cleanup, sweeping pathways, and light graffiti removal. Some special request tasks may include, assisting with annual flowerbed planting at Sea Lion Aquatic Park and Connelly Park, painting, planting projects or removal, and major weed removal or pruning.
You can adopt an entire park, or a particular area within a park. Adoptable parks include: Beau Bien park, Candlewood Park, Community Park, Connelly Memorial Park, Kingston Park, The Museums at Lisle Station Park, Ramp Park, Sea Lion Aquatic Park, and Surrey Ridge Park. For more information on the program, contact Adopt-A-Park Volunteer Coordinator Lisa Leone at 630-353-4304, or go to lisleparkdistrict.org/adopt-a-park.
