DuPage High School District 88 Board of Education Technology Committee met Oct. 7.

1. Chromebook Deployment and Staff Development

Presentation on staff development instructional tools that teachers are using in the classroom. Overview on Discussion was on the review of our fall 1:1 roll-out program with our staff and students. Specific areas of review included the repair and loss numbers of the Chromebooks, updates regarding the Sprint hotspot connectivity program, 3rd party insurance information for loss or theft, technology support for labs, Chromebook devices as well as our Computer Repair classes. Discussion was also on targeted professional development specific to Instructional Technology initiatives for our teachers specifically with digital instructional strategies showcasing assessment tools, student communication and lesson review.

2. Software and Hardware Replacement Cycles

Discussion was on our ongoing software and hardware needs and purchases in terms of replacements, specifically with computers, monitors, phones, staff laptops, staff tablets and student devices that are on budgeted replacement cycles. Additional discussion was on the replacement cycle for our classroom and office phones as well as projectors.

3. Radio Repeaters

Discussion was on the status of radio repeaters for Willowbrook High School to ensure radio access for Police/Fire/EMT personnel. Specifically, discussion was on the need to have amplified coverage throughout the building

4. Network/Backup Storage - Security Measures

Discussion was on the ongoing need to purchase additional Network storage for data backups. One area of specific discussion area was with the existing network storage options for our students and staff specific to types of backup storage in case of a data breach or security incident.

5. E-Learning Day

Discussion was on the update on the exploration and research with “e-Learning days." Discussion was on how ISBE is in the process of reviewing how to integrate an “e-Learning day” as an Instructional day. Currently our district is gathering research and information regarding the state requirements specific to online instruction as well as student access to online materials and resources in the event of an emergency day or snow day.

6. Other

Discussion regarding technology needs with increased Chromebooks for students.
