City of Wheaton issued the following announcement on Nov. 26.
The Wheaton Lions Club / Wheaton Park District 5K Reindeer Run / Walk will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The following streets will be temporarily closed for this event:
- Main Street between Front Street & Jefferson Avenue.
- Jefferson Avenue between Main Street & Cross Street.
- Cross Street between Jefferson Street & Prairie Avenue.
- Prairie Avenue between Cross Street & Santa Rosa Avenue.
- Santa Rosa Avenue between Forest Avenue & Cadillac Drive.
- Cadillac Drive between Santa Rosa Avenue & Webster Avenue.
- Webster Avenue between Cadillac Drive & Forest Avenue.
- Forest Avenue between Webster Avenue & Irving Avenue.
- Irving Avenue between Forest Avenue and Prairie Avenue.
- Oak Avenue between Irving Avenue and Washington Street.
- Washington Street between Prairie Avenue & Wesley Street.
- Wesley Street between Washington Street & Main Street.
Additionally, Wesley Street between Main Street and Cross Street will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, until noon Saturday, Dec. 7.
Residents, citizens, and motorists are being asked for their cooperation in not moving the barricades or cones to ensure the safety of the runners. During the event, streets will be adequately staffed with uniformed Police Officers to assist and direct traffic.
