Downers Grove Park District issued the following announcement on July 23.
The Downers Grove Park Board is now accepting letters of interest/resumes from residents for the vacant seat on the Board of Park Commissioners. The vacancy will be created upon the formal resignation of Commissioner Tom Salaba, who has served on the Park Board for 4 years and volunteered his services to make Downers Grove Park District a great place to live and play.
According to the Illinois Park District Code, a candidate must be a registered voter who has resided within the Park District boundaries for at least one year prior to appointment. Candidates are asked to submit a letter of interest (500 words or less) describing why they are interested in serving on the Park Board along with a resume on or before August 14th at 12:00 p.m. Information can be mailed to the Park District Administrative Office, 2455 Warrenville Road, Downers Grove, IL 60515, or by email at alenon@dgparks.org.
The candidate selected to fill Commissioner Salaba’s vacant seat will be selected by the current Board members and will serve the remainder of the term which expires April 2021. At that time, the position will stand for election as a full four-year term. Park Board Vice-President Cathy Mahoney stated that the Board will determine a schedule to interview selected candidates soon after receiving letters of interest/resumes with a final selection targeted shortly thereafter.
