Illinois State House District 41 issued the following announcement on June 19.

State Representative Grant Wehrli (R-Naperville) presented members of the Naperville American Legion Post 43 with an honorary House Resolution on Tuesday in recognition of the Post’s 100th Anniversary.

“The history of this organization dates back to 1919, when a group of World War I veterans came together to create a local organization to serve veterans and their families,” said Wehrli. “When their charter was issued that same year, the Naperville American Legion Post 43 opened its doors with 126 initial members. Today the Post serves more than 600 members and is one of the largest and most active posts in the state.”

Wehrli presented the resolution to the Naperville American Legion at a Naperville City Council meeting. More than a dozen members of the Post were in attendance.

“In addition to providing Color and Honor Guard services for local civic events and burial honors for veterans, the men and women from the Naperville Post 43 promote youth citizenship through Boys and Girls State programs, sponsorship of a local scouting troop, and through scholarships,” Wehrli said. “A staple in the annual Naperville Memorial Day parade, this group exemplifies community involvement through service to others.”

The Naperville American Legion Post 43 is located at 10 W Chicago Avenue in Naperville. Click here to read House Resolution 377.
