ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 45: Pappas Speaks to Senior Citizens and Organizations at District Advisory Panel

Illinois State House District 45 issued the following announcement on June 19.

State Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, spoke with senior residents within the 45th District as well as other senior organizations that service the community at her Senior Citizen Advisory Panel Monday morning.

“We had many different perspectives at the round-table, and I was pleased to see participation from the many organizations who provide resources and services to our senior community,” said Pappas. “However, there are definitely areas for improvement, such as communication and coordination between agencies serving different municipalities, townships and counties, as well as providing seniors with clear information from a trusted source on exactly what services are available.”

Panel attendants discussed a variety of issues, including fraud and consumer protection, Medicare, and public transportation, which sparked a unique conversation about the future of transportation, including automotive artificial intelligence. There are no topics that are off the table. Pappas is interested in exploring every issue that seniors consider important.

“I urge anyone who has questions, concerns, or legislative suggestions pertaining to the senior community to attend future meetings of my Senior Citizen Advisory Panel,” said Pappas. “I also urge those interested in making sure they are not overpaying for their utilities to attend my Citizens Utility Board Clinic June 26th from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Bloomingdale Horizon Senior Independent Living Community located at 160 W Lake St, Bloomingdale.”
