Former state university employee Nejman paid in $50K to pension fund, could collect $668K in retirement

Former state university employee Linda Nejman, who retired in March 2019, saved $49,600 toward a pension over 13 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Nejman would collect as much as $667,958, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes DuPage Policy Journal.

The projection assumes Nejman received $14,040 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Nejman will have already received $58,738 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
