Wheaton and 47th District communities observe Flag Day with tribute to service members
State Representative Amy Grant announced on June 12 that Wheaton and surrounding 47th District communities are celebrating Flag Day this weekend. Grant said, "This weekend, we celebrate the Stars and Stripes and the freedoms, opportunities, and sacrifices it represents. As we proudly display our flag across Wheaton and 47th District communities, let us take a moment to honor the brave men and women who have defended our nation and the values that unite us as Americans."
Grant also extended her wishes for a safe holiday, saying, "Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Flag Day!"
Grant serves as State Representative for Illinois' 47th House District after being elected in 2023 to replace former state representative Deanne Mazzochi, according to the office of State Representative Amy Grant.
Flag Day is observed annually in the United States on June 14 to commemorate the adoption of the American flag. Communities often mark this occasion by displaying flags at homes, businesses, and public spaces.
The observance provides an opportunity for residents to reflect on national unity as well as recognize those who have served in defense of the country.
