Illinois State Rep. Deanne M. Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) recently highlighted Jennifer Fabian for her outstanding service work.

“Fabian is making a real difference in our community by helping families get the resources to get back on their feet when they fall on hard times,” Mazzochi said in a press release highlighting a daylong event recently held in Springfield to honor the contributions a group of local female leaders are making across the state. “It is my pleasure to recognize her contributions to DuPage County and promote everything People’s Resource Center does in the community.”

Fabian, who serves as executive director of People’s Resource Center, was one of about 40 women feted for their work. At People’s Resource Center, as many as 30,000 local residents in need are able to get such assistance as free food, clothes, social services, job training and job-search assistance.

In addition to attending a recognition brunch in their honor, the group spent their time in Springfield discussing how they can do even more by working with the General Assembly on policy that makes a difference for those who need help the most.

“We need to know what is keeping people up at night,” Mazzochi added. “Where government is working for us, and where it is failing. Strong women who are in the trenches every day and the glue of their communities need to have their voices and concerns heard and drive Springfield policy discussions.”

Mazzochi said that creating and bolstering programs that empower women assures that everyone wins.

“These aren’t just women’s issues,” she added. “These are human issues that all communities face from education to culture to promoting economic opportunities. We are grateful for these opportunities to learn from these women to drive better policy.”
