Bloomingdale Park District issued the following announcement on April 8.
The Bloomingdale Park District announced today that its finance department’s comprehensive annual financial report was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This is the eighth straight year the Park District has earned the distinction.
“This is a great honor for the Park District, as it confirms the responsible and accountable reporting of our finances,” said Bloomingdale Park District Executive Director Carrie Fullerton. “Congratulations are in order for Finance Director June Fergus and our auditors, Lauterbach & Amen, LLP, who worked together on the comprehensive annual financial report and achieved this prestigious award.”
A press release issued by the GFOA stated, “the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.”
The Park District’s comprehensive annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel to “meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read it.”
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
