City of Naperville issued the following announcement on Feb. 22.
The City of Naperville is proud to announce that the Naperville Public Works Department has been awarded its fourth consecutive accreditation from the American Public Works Association (APWA). The APWA accreditation program recognizes public works agencies that go beyond the requirements of the management practice established nationally in the public works industry. It is a voluntary, self-motivated approach to evaluate, verify and recognize compliance with the recommended management practices set forth in the Public Works Management Practices Manual.
Naperville’s Public Works first received accreditation in September 2006 and, at that time, was the 37th agency in the United States and Canada to achieve the designation. In October 2018, a team of public works professionals from around the country completed a thorough evaluation of Naperville’s operations. This recent reaccreditation, which was awarded based on a perfect compliance score, is effective for four years.
"Naperville's Public Works department deals with matters that are critically important to public health and safety," said Public Works Director Dick Dublinski. "For this reason, we wholeheartedly believe in evaluating how our department's policies, procedures and practices compare to those recommended by nationally recognized public works experts. Reaccreditation is a true testament to our commitment to providing quality services every day."
