Naperville Police Department issued the following announcement on Feb. 7.
The Naperville Police Department made 37 traffic stops and issued 36 citations during the recent Super Bowl crackdown.
The Super Bowl weekend Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket enforcement effort ran from Friday, Feb. 1, through the early morning hours of Monday, Feb. 4, to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure more people buckle up for safety.
The 36 citations issued during this enforcement campaign included 26 for speeding, three for no insurance, two for possession of alcohol by a minor, two for disobeying stop signs and one each for disobeying a traffic signal, unlawful use of a cell phone and registration violation.
“Motorists should understand the warning that we are serious about cracking down on impaired drivers and seat belt law violators. We do it to save lives,” said Naperville Police Sgt. Derek Zook.
The recent law enforcement campaign was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
