NAPERVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT: Naperville Firefighters Extinguish Structure Fire on Tennyson Lane

Fire 13

Naperville Fire Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 10.

At 8:19 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call for the report of smoke in a two-story multi-family residence located in the 1100 block of Tennyson Lane. Naperville 911 (PSAP) dispatched a General Alarm assignment to the reported address, which brought 11 pieces of fire apparatus and 25 fire personnel to the scene.

The first unit arrived on scene at 8:21 p.m. and reported smoke showing from the residence of a multi-family structure. The fire was located in the basement of the center unit. Three hand lines were deployed to contain the fire. The initial hand lines were directed to the exterior basement windows to begin extinguishing the fire. Hand lines were redeployed to the interior basement of the unit to complete extinguishment of the fire. A complete search of the building was conducted, and salvage and overhaul operations were performed. One resident was evaluated by paramedics on the scene, but no further medical attention was needed. An inspector from Naperville’s Transportation, Engineering and Development (TED) was also notified. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and the single unit was deemed uninhabitable. Residents were cleared to return to the unaffected units.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department. The Warrenville Fire Protection District, Bolingbrook Fire Department, and the Aurora Fire Department provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident. There was no report of injuries to firefighters.
