Report: 15% of Universal Technical Institute students repaying loans are in default

Out of 4,069 Universal Technical Institute students repaying loans in 2015, 611 were in default, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

That gives the two-year proprietary school in Phoenix a default rate of 15 percent for that year – 3.3 percentage points lower than in 2014 and 3.9 points lower than in 2013.

Universal Technical Institute had 208 fewer students in default in 2015 than in 2014 and 393 fewer than in 2013.
