Jay Kinzler believes things will get much worse for Illinois if J.B. Pritzker is elected governor in the November election.

“I fear having a local government led by [Pritzker] and other Democrats will send Illinois into a period of many years of darkness,” Kinzler told the DuPage Policy Journal. “It will bring about a time where anyone who can move away will do so as home values plummet, taxes rise and job losses mount. All the people pulling the wagon in this state will be gone.”

A new Illinois Policy Institute (IPI) report reveals several of the spending programs and revenue-producing ideas offered up by Pritzker could actually grow the deficit and create the need for tax increases totaling as much as $18 billion to keep operations functioning.

IPI also highlights that the Democratic gubernatorial candidate's plan could also increase annual taxes on a family with a household income of just over $79,000 by up to $3,500. In addition, the current income tax rate could more than double from 4.95 percent to 9.95 percent, while the state loses at least 132,000 jobs along with $31.3 billion in economic activity.

“All across the state, I feel sorry for people, then I get really mad on the inside over what Democrats have done,” said Kinzler, who is running against incumbent state Rep. Deb Conroy (D-Villa Park) in the 46th District. “People are hurting and suffering and it’s hard to watch. The first step to efficient government is getting rid of Mike Madigan as House speaker. It used to be in Illinois that everyone prospered. That’s harder to find now that we’re saddled with all these huge taxes.”

At least part of Pritzker’s plan centers on enacting a progressive tax, for which he has offered few details in terms of how much revenue it will create or what tax rates might be in place for each income level.

“All you need to know is that J.B. Pritzker will raise taxes and leave the state in more financial bankruptcy,” Kinzler said.

The 46th House District includes all or parts of Addison, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glen Ellyn, Glendale Heights, Hanover Park, Lombard and Villa Park.
