NAPERVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT: Responds to Structure Fire in 100 Block of N. Ellsworth St.

Naperville Fire Department issued the following announcement on Oct. 22.

At noon on Sunday October 21, 2018, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call for the report of smoke and fire in a single-family residence located in the 100-north block of Ellsworth street. Naperville 911(PSAP) dispatched a General Alarm assignment to the reported address, which brought 11 pieces of fire apparatus and 26 fire personnel to the scene.

The first unit arrived on scene at 12:02 p.m. and reported smoke and fire showing from the residence of a single-family structure. Fire attack was initiated by the first-arriving engine and medic unit. The fire was located in the attic and roof. Upon the arrival of additional fire companies, a search of the residence was completed, the fire was extinguished, salvage and overhaul operations were performed. No civilian injuries were reported. An inspector from Naperville’s Transportation Engineering and Development (TED) was also notified. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and the residence was deemed uninhabitable.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department, Naperville Electric Department, Naperville Water Department, Nicor and the American Red Cross. The Plainfield Fire Protection District, Lisle Woodridge Fire Protection District, Darien Woodridge Fire Protection District, Winfield Fire Protection District and the Wheaton Fire Department provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident. There were no injuries to firefighters working on the scene.
