NAPERVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT: Police Investigate Burglaries to Motor Vehicles, Arrest Two for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

Naperville Police Department issued the following announcement on Sept. 7.

At approximately 12:19 a.m. on September 4, 2018, Naperville Police received a 911 call from a resident in the 500 block of Apple River Drive reporting that they had observed a subject dressed in dark clothing approach and possibly enter a vehicle parked in their neighbor’s driveway.

Officers responding to the area subsequently located several individuals on foot in the area. During an investigation into the reported vehicle burglary, two of the individuals were found to have arrived in the area in a vehicle that had been stolen in Chicago. The two individuals were taken into custody by the Naperville Police Department and charged with the following crimes.

Maurice K. Boyd, 20, of the 7200 block of S. Langley in Chicago was charged with one Felony count of Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle and one Misdemeanor count of Criminal Trespass to Motor Vehicle.

Zachary T. Davis, 19, of the 7000 block of S. Clyde Avenue in Chicago was charged with one Felony count of Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle and one Misdemeanor count of Criminal Trespass to Motor Vehicle.

The Naperville Police Department continues to investigate several motor vehicle burglaries reported on September 4 and previous mornings as well as additional individuals that were located during this incident.

Naperville Police are trying to locate the owners of items recovered during the arrest of the above individuals. If you are a victim to a burglary of motor vehicle between Wednesday, August 29 and Tuesday, September 4 please call Detective Julie Lardino at (630) 420-8488.

Residents are reminded to always lock their vehicles and never leave valuables inside.

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
