American InterContinental University enrolls 8,698 undergrads

At American InterContinental University, 85 percent of undergraduate students are nontraditional students - age 25 or older - and 71 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private for-profit institution in Schaumburg enrolled 9,699 students in fall 2017, including 8,698 in undergraduate and 1,001 in graduate programs, data shows. 21.3 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

4 percent of undergraduates are residents of Illinois, and 96 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (35 percent) and white (30 percent).
