Naperville Park District issued the following announcement on July 3.
Naperville Park District Police will join law enforcement personnel from the Naperville Police Department to serve lunch at Texas Roadhouse from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27 to benefit Special Olympics Illinois.
The benefit lunch will take place at Texas Roadhouse, located at 2856 Patriot Lane in Naperville. Guests will enjoy a “free” lunch served by police officers and may simply leave a donation at the table. One hundred per cent of the donations will go toward Special Olympics Illinois.
Park Police began fundraising for Special Olympics Illinois earlier this spring by selling tee shirts and by participating in the Cop on a Rooftop event in June. Special Olympics merchandise will be sold during the benefit lunch and also is available for purchase through the Naperville Park District by contacting Chief Schnibben at 630-848-5049.
Special Olympics Illinois is a not-for-profit organization offering year-round training and competition in 18 sports for nearly 23,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and nearly 20,000 young athletes ages 2-7 with and without intellectual disabilities. According to a statement posted on the organization’s website, “Special Olympics transforms lives by empowering people with intellectual disabilities to realize their full potential in sports and in life.”
