Lisle-Woodridge FPD responds to 172 fires in 2017

Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District responded to 1285 calls in 2017 - 6.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Lisle-Woodridge included 172 fires - 79 structure fires, 33 vehicle fires and 60 other fires. The fire department also responded to 13 calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $2,463,506 in fire loss - or about $14,323 per fire.

The department also received 1100 false calls, including 35 malicious calls and 1065 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents and one was injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $23,167,870 in 2016.

The Lisle-Woodridge FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 87 active employees and 79 retired or inactive employees, was $474,216 in debt as of December 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $3,824 for every fire in 2016.
