Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District responded to 655 calls in 2017 - 35.1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Darien-Woodridge included 98 fires - 68 structure fires, 11 vehicle fires and 19 other fires.

In all, the department saw $425,200 in fire loss - or about $4,339 per fire.

The department also received 557 false calls, including five malicious calls and 552 other false calls.

The Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $8,815,020 in 2017.
