Analysis: Wheaton pays $2.80 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Wheaton Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 73.4 percent of the $1,376,129 the Wheaton Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $2.80 for every $1 from pension members, according to a DuPage Policy Journal analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Wheaton contributed $1,010,419 to the fund, which saw a $50,047 decrease in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $359,697, or 26.1 percent, in 2016. Another $6,013 came from other unspecified sources.
