City of Elmhurst Commission on Youth met January 8. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the commission:

In Attendance: Jackie Tamer, Annie Jaworska, Patricia McKernan, Sharon Karpiel, Anne Zimmer, Joey Kalwat, Derek Schlager, Dan Corrigan, Nick Waldemeyer and Mark Soehn


Absent: Melea Smith, Dannee Polomsky, Kim Brigman, Marisa Mancini, Jan DeCoursey and

Bob Rasho

          Add “emotional well-being” to Vision Statement

          Agenda will now be sent from the City

Depression program Thurs, 2/1 7 pm                                            Annie

          Annie will email the digital flyer; please circulate

Vaping program                                                                 Jackie/Nick/Dan/Dannee

          No date yet, pending the ordinance being drafted by the Elmhurst Police Department

          and approval by the City Council

Teen Job and Volunteer Fair, Wednesday, March 14 updates      Patty/Kim

          Please email Patty or Kim with any suggestions for the 2018 Volunteer Fair

          Posters (50)/flyers (30) will be ready for the February meeting

          Sharon will forward a digital copy of the flyer; please circulate

          Dan and/or Nick to be near entrance at 2:15 or 2:30 to facilitate vendor move-in; ID

          required

          Jackie will order food/water and secure Wi-Fi code

          Amy Thompson, York Career Center will be there to answer questions

          Continue to have a couple or tables with chairs for kids to sit down for applications

          Add a “cheat sheet” into the program with work permit information, guidelines on how

          many hours, how late, etc… a teen can work

Youth Exemplary Service Awards, Thursday, April 26 Updates Jackie

          Judges: Alderman Marti Deuter, Deputy Police Chief McLean and Deputy Fire Chief

          Anaszewicz

          Form is available of the City website

          Form is sent to the Job/Volunteer Fair Invitees

          Jackie also sends to Churches and Scouts

          Dr. Moyer will not be in attendance; a D205 person will be in attendance

          Review of the Rubric; no changes suggested

*Next meeting Monday February 12 at 12:30pm, City Hall
