Dr. Jay Kinzler says a more than $55,000 donation to Sen. Ira Silverstein (D-Chicago) proves the party is not acting in the best interest of Illinois residents.
“The Democrats and the Democrat leadership are coming out publicly saying #MeToo and they want to crack down on sexual harassment,” Kinzler, a Republican running for House District 46, told DuPage Policy Journal. “Then they turn around and give him a huge contribution it is like they are not practicing what they preach, which seems a little bit hypocritical.”
Kinzler noted that Silverstein had been accused of sexual harassment by Denise Rotheimer.

However, the newly appointed legislative investigator general, Julie Porter, determined that Silverstein was not guilty of harassment. Rather, she noted that he violated the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act section on legislative code of conduct.
Now, Silverstein’s campaign has been infused with $55,400 thanks to the Senate Democratic Victory Fund, the Illinois State Board of Elections has reported.
“Obviously they want to keep him in power,” Kinzler added.
“It just basically shows you they are not practicing what they preach.”
The big picture demonstrates that Democrats are not the party that cares about voters, according to Kinzler.
“For instance, they had the legislative investigator general position open for years," Kinzler said. "A job that was supposed to do oversight and they chose not to fill it.”
He added that by law there needed to be an interim person named to the job, but the Democrats failed to do that.
“Meanwhile the complaints built up,” Kinzler said. “These allegations have racked up, and there was nobody to investigate them. That doesn't sound like a group that is looking out for the good of their constituents or residents. They are not doing their job and getting to the bottom of problems that people are trusting them to take care of.”
Kinzler is running against Rep. Deb Conroy (D-Villa Park) for District 46, which includes all or part of Glendale Heights, Carol Stream and Villa Park.
