Darien ties for 22nd with 3 scam reports among 237 Illinois cities in June
Darien was one of 23 cities tied for 22nd in scam report totals among 237 Illinois cities with at least one BBB Scam Tracker report in June 2026, logging three scam reports, according to Better Business Bureau.
There were no scam reports for the city in the previous month.
Two reports that included dollar amounts accounted for reported losses totaling $385. The top scam type for June 2026 was online purchase, which made up two of the three reports.
The largest reported loss for the month was $27 in an online purchase scam. The report said Ambitionz failed to deliver a paid product and used deceptive business practices and ghost templates; the submitter also said their inquiries went unanswered.
BBB Scam Tracker lets consumers search reported scams and share their own experiences to help others recognize similar schemes. The BBB says it reviews each report before publication and does not publicly display the reporter’s name or personal contact information.
Nationwide, fraud reports have continued to represent large financial losses. The Federal Trade Commission said consumers reported losing more than $12.5 billion to fraud in 2024, a 25% increase from the previous year.
