8. Choose DuPage - Update
Lisa Miceli, Economic Development Director, presented to the Committee on behalf of Choose DuPage. Ms. Miceli gave a brief presentation on six large companies proposing a move to DuPage County. Choose DuPage will update the Committee on their progress at the next meeting.
9. Worknet - Update
A. Breaking Boundaries - A Career Exploration Series for Women
Lisa Schvach, Director of Workforce Development, spoke about her upcoming "Breaking Boundaries" Career Exploration Series event scheduled on September 29th at College of DuPage. Ms. Schvach's initiative is getting women into non-traditional occupations, usually held by men, that pay much more and are in high demand in our area. Lisa has received a phenomenal response from employers, the Trade Associations, and industry groups who want to participate in this program. The next steps will focus on marketing and starting a new program at the Center that would mirror our Youth Program. Ms. Schvach is exploring different options and funding to provide supportive services and childcare options for these participants. The Committee will receive frequent updates on the status of the program.
