Warrenville FPD responds to 35 fires in 2016

Warrenville Fire Protection District responded to 322 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The calls in Warrenville included 35 fires - 18 structure fires, three vehicle fires and 14 other fires.

In all, the department saw $83,915 in fire loss - or about $2,398 per fire.

The department also received 287 false calls, including nine malicious calls and 278 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents and three were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Warrenville FPD Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 10 active employees and four retired or inactive employees, was $191,967 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $5,485 for every fire in 2016.
