Glen Ellyn ranked 608th in state in lottery ticket sales for January 2016

The Village of Glen Ellyn had the 608th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of January 2016 -- up 81 spots from its December ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Glen Ellyn was $20.31 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Dupage Policy Journal, Glen Ellyn generated $572,656 in net sales from its 14 lottery retailers in January 2016, compared to $398,727 in January 2015.

The Village of Glen Ellyn is in DuPage County, and has a population of 28,201, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Carol Stream, Downers Grove, Glendale Heights, Wheaton and Lombard.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in January 2016 was $42,258.22.

Glen Ellyn's top lottery retailer is 7-Eleven #33737 located at 803 N Main St, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

7-Eleven #33737 generated 18 percent of Glen Ellyn's January 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of DuPage County's sales that month, which was $25,566,228.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in DuPage County in 2015 were Bensenville, Wood Dale, Itasca, Villa Park and Addison.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
