Addison ranked 148th in state in lottery ticket sales for January 2016

The Village of Addison had the 148th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of January 2016 -- up 15 spots from its December ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Addison was $41.40 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Dupage Policy Journal, Addison generated $1,540,395.50 in net sales from its 37 lottery retailers in January 2016, compared to $1,159,435 in January 2015.

The Village of Addison is in DuPage County, and has a population of 37,208, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Itasca, Bensenville, Glendale Heights, Villa Park, Wood Dale, Bloomingdale, Lombard and Elmhurst.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in January 2016 was $42,258.22.

Addison's top lottery retailer is Shell Foodmart located at 2449 W Lake St, Addison, IL 60101.

Shell Foodmart generated 11 percent of Addison's January 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of DuPage County's sales that month, which was $25,566,228.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in DuPage County in 2015 were Bensenville, Wood Dale, Itasca, Villa Park and Addison.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
